Everdale Farms

As an organic farmer, it is their job to make sure all food that is grown is in the best condition it can be. I never realized how much of an impact locally grown food has on consumers; the food is usually pesticide free, and never includes preservatives. Often times eating locally will mean the food is more rich in flavor and the food is picked at the peak of its ripeness because of the care the farmers take in their food. Eating locally also means you are going to be the food that is in season, meaning you will be getting the food, which is in the best season. Locally grown food can also mean there are more nutrients in the fruits and vegetables compared to food that has been grown in other countries or provinces which have a longer picking time. Locally grown food is also very environmentally friendly because it contributes to the soil and to the grass on the farm.

This blog follows a young mother of two and her experiments in the kitchen, which will usually involve healthy and clean ingredients in the recipes.

This blog is all about eating green and vegetarian and putting only the best food in your body.

Much like the other blog posted above, this blog likes to follow a clean and healthy outlook on cooking involving simple recipes.

Satirical News Anchor: Jimmy Kimmel

One of my favorite satirical news broadcasters of the moment is Jimmy Kimmel. Jimmy Kimmel is an American comedian, actor, and television host. His show ‘Jimmy Kimmel Live!’ has been airing since 2003, and has had great success in both America and Canada. Kimmel’s show involves interviews with famous celebrities, asking questions to the public, watching viral videos and much more. One of Kimmel’s most popular segments involves challenges being sent out to his audience, and having the challenges being filmed where they will then be aired on the show. His most famous challenge being ‘I Told My Kid I Ate All Their Halloween Candy,’ where the parents then told their kids they ate their Halloween candy, and then filmed their reaction. Although Jimmy Kimmel’s show is very similar to other talk show hosts such as Jay Leno and George Lopez, I find Kimmel to have a more carefree humor which comes across as very real to the audience. Much of the time Jimmy Kimmel won’t use offense comedy, and will keep the subject matter light and interesting for the viewers. Many newscasters today will discuss harsh subject matter where they judge certain celebrities based on their actions or on their appearances. To me this can be very distasteful and unfair to many celebrities. I believe Jimmy Kimmel is an excellent newscaster and has created a excellent talk show.

Auguste and Louis Lumiere

Auguste and Louis Lumiere were French brothers who became recognized as some of the first filmmakers.
The two brothers were born in the city Besancon in France in 1862 (Auguste) and 1864 (Louis.) Growing up the brothers’ father Antoine Lumiere ran a manufacturing business, which sold photographic equipment. Their father opened this business after being a portrait painter for so long, but then realized a photography business would hold many more financial rewards. Louis was the first of the two brothers to begin experimenting with photography along side his father. When Louis was 19 he developed a process to develop film known as the “Etiquette Bleue” process. This process brought a great amount of business to their father’s shop. Their inventions first began when the brothers father Antoine returned home from a demonstration of Edison’s Peephole Kinetoscope and he showed Louis a piece of the Kinetoscope film. Then Auguste started to make the first experiments, where the two wanted to fix the problems they saw in Edison’s invention. The first problem was to reduce the size and weight of the camera because the brothers found it to be far too bulky for use. The second problem was to fix the “nature” of the Kinetoscope, only one person could view the films at a time, the brothers wanted multiple person to see them.
After a year of experimenting, the brothers had created an invention called the Cinematographe, which combing a camera with a printer, and a projector. The Cinematographe fixed all the problems the brothers found with Edison’s camera.

One of the most well known short films (at the time regular length films) is Le Squelette Joyeux or The Skeleton of Joy. This stop motion film depicts a “joyful” skeleton leap and dancing around while loosing and re-attaching his limbs. The minute long film shows a creature that is often mis-interpreted as a dark and ominous character, but the Lumiere brothers create a happy and joyful character.
